NY blog - work in progress

Hello, blogging from Richard's in Chatham, NY county... snow on the ground, blue skies, good people - a very nice place to be. Just snatching some blog time as the main diary I was intending to blog daily (or so) is stuck in cyber prison on my ipaq.. can't get an ISP carrier in the States. I fiddled about and got the phone band changed and the provider so I can use the phone, but the web access is a no-no. oh well.. so - watch this space (as the slightly irritating tour guide on the round-Manhattan-boat tour kept saying - and I'll post it all in a big slab of U.S road trip dudeness.

levelled up

I just got past midnight, playing the still addictive W-O-W and realised two things (1) bladder is full, cue to stop and get to bed (2) I'm only bloody 41, today (now).

Crikey Blimey. Happy Birthday me and my Bro.. will send him an email now.. Haven’t got him a card as usual but I'm buying him something good in NYC. So.. thanks Mum and Dad for the necessary, no thanks evolution for the increasingly accelerated speed of decrepitude :-0

Bring it On

Aah, fighting talk. I've got all combatitive about 4 pitches we have at the new place in the next 2 weeks. Combabitive and stressed of course. A lot to get done before Clan Kelly head off to the States to gawp at the big buildings.

Combative comes from the hacking and bashing my way up to level 10 as a night elf on the very good, very addictive online world of warcraft. That'll be the game bought for Ronan’s 11th birthday, which he plays a lot of and I .. Also seem too. There are 40 folk in his guild (I keep saying Clan and he just rolls his eyes). Of those 40, about 4 or 5 are parents of the youth. Which I think is pretty cool - lots of (sanitised) chat on screen between youth and their parents who are hovering behind them telling them to get off line, not to do homework but just so dad or Mum can play.

Won't be able to play now for a bit as mortgage needs securing via some new business wins and I want to win work this side of Easter. So I'll be burning the midnight oil for a few days, writing documents - not levelling up by fighting monsters.

Also means I can't crack on with the book I'd finally (after literally years in my head) started writing. Two chapters down, many to go. That too will have to wait.

And I did have the intention of getting fit and pumping some iron (whilst sitting on the exercise bike - both relegated to the garage) BUT work is taking up ALL my time. So leave the Iron pumping to Matt and Tony who have got all gym-tastic I heard.

Hit Me

Spending a very nice hour or two selecting songs for the ipod shuffle I got from the guys at mcinteractive -- thanks dave, brogie, rory, dave, andy o, andy d, chazlotte, neil, jimbozz, ric, brannie, tim, alison.. umm, and anyone else who contributed -- great present. But guaranteed to vex an old git with a database background.. you can't stick in folders, err.. I can't order the 240 tracks by genre or band name .. eek. Its all random.
So I've gone down the 'its all rock and roll' genre route and left off the folksy/celtic or dance stuff. All geetars and drums (mostly).. New Order playing at the moment, straight after Faith No More.
I quite like this randomness.. very shuffly - I have to plug in and like reevesy in the matrix, shout 'hit me' and let the rawwk download in any order it wants, what a gift for a control freak :-)
Good choice old-but-missed team!
