notes from a midlife muser - grabbing those thoughts before they turn to memory mush

Happy Birthday Ma

I'm not sure what age you would have been (61?) but if I had the chance to buy you a present this time round, it wouldn't be crappy flowers and a NOWthatswhatIcallmusic CD from the garage near your house (yes, I did that once) ~ Happy Birthday Mum. I miss you.

We're off to Scotland next week to see my remaining family in paisley and Perth.. To say hello to my Mum's grave (she's multi-parked with my auntie and uncle) and then up to Inverness ("Scotland’s newest city") to start a 2-day trip round Loch ness and surrounds.
When I booked the hotel, the woman who took the booking said it was spooky because her mum's maiden name was Kelly, which happened when we booked the campsite in coverack Cornwall) first time round (and they had a family farm named Marsden farm - the village we live in). I have decided to be uber-piscean now and only book holidays where people have a direct-but-tenuous connection to our family.
Did drama group tonight on new play project (the Wedding) and for the record, Gilly is a great writer and so am I ;-)
Nur nur nee nur nur or something.
Finally, had a slightly shouty session earlier with Joe, which I subsequently apologised for. We’re the worst 2 for planning things in our hectic (but average) family schedule. He never explains thing and I never listen, and then I never explain things (or assume it is known by everyone) and he never takes it in. ugh. Strangely, whilst Lian and I clash the most, we always know what we are doing when, as we write list upon list (and she has even adopted her old dad's write_a_line_and_draw_a tick_box_at_the_end_ to_be_ticked_when_completed. Sad but true and it brings a tear of pride to my eye. :-)

disparate thoughts, sketchily mustered

In had a great blog in mind a week or so ago, but dictated to myself, in my head on the last train back from Manchester after a few beers with guys from work (best of luck Jamie .. @ Code).. so it probably wouldn't have made sense. Would have been funny to bang it all down when I got home though and re-read days or weeks later and think 'what the bloody hell was I on about there then?'.

This blog is a quick drum roll and 'ta-tarrrr' for Tim's new tattoo - on his left shoulder blade, as designed by me. he wants a matching one for the right so I'm going to reverse the image (maybe change a bit for interest) and get to him. My first skin art.

On the subject of internal dictation, I have sketched out the children's book I’ve been working on (as in thinking of for a few minutes once a year) for over 8 years now.. I have to get it started on paper - It's a blooming good story (so says Ronan aged 10).
